In April 2016, the CITES issued the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), listing rosewood on the list of endangered species in Appendix II, explicitly prohibiting the transportation of rosewood, The Convention has been in force since January 2017.
